Meet our lovely new team member Jessie. She is a talented graphic designer and an artist who loves crafts with a passion, and adds her fresh spin of humor to everything.

How long have you been crafting?
For as long as I can remember. Growing up my favorite “toy” was my craft bucket, filled with my own supplies plus leftover supplies from family members. I’m lucky be part of a creative family, so there was always someone making, building, or cooking something.
What do you like about crafting?
I like the problem solving, deciding what you want something to look like and figuring out how to make that happen. And honestly, I just like making adorable things. If the final product makes me giggle a little bit, that’s even better (like these mini pearler bead emoji magnets I made, part of a Relay for Life fundraiser).
What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever made?
I don’t know how to choose… usually my favorite project is whatever I’ve finished most recently 🙂

Katz family crest I designed for my parents’ anniversary.
I’d have to mention my wedding stationery here. It was a lot of fun incorporating hand lettering, different paper textures and lots of autumn themed illustrations. We left a blank space on the RSVP for guests to send back their own artwork, which we hung up around the reception. I designed these before our wedding in 2012, so my graphic design style and skills have changed a lot since then, but this was such a special project I’ll never stop loving it.
What do you like about CraftJams?
I love that CraftJams attract other people who like to spend their time making adorable things! Its fun to meet new people and share the experience of making something really cool.
If you could CraftJam with anyone, who would it be?
Ooooo… thats a real tough call between Betty White and Tim Gunn…
What’s the best advice you ever got?
Its cheesy, but just to be myself, in life and in my art. The older I get the more I realize that this is really important advice.
Best music to listen to while crafting?
I’ve been listening to Dave Matthews a lot again recently, its nostalgic for me, and relaxing, perfect for crafting!
