Needle Felting: Visible Mending

Doing a little spring closet cleaning right now? Aren’t we all! Before you toss out that moth-eaten sweater or ripped sweatshirt, let us help you turn it into something fresh, fun and totally one-of-a-kind!

Visible mending is a great way to extend the life of your clothing and show off your unique style. With just a few ounces of roving wool and a few beginner felting techniques, our talented JamMaster will show you how to patch holes, cover up stains and create your own little piece of art right onto your garment.

Did you know that in 2018, nearly 17 million tons of textiles waste ended up in landfills? And we are consuming around 60% more clothing than we did just 15 years ago. If those seem like overwhelming numbers, just remember that extending the life of the clothing in your closet by just 9 months you can reduce your carbon footprint by almost 10%. So grab a sweater (or two), grab some friends and let’s get mending!

In just two hours, you will:

  • Learn how to work with roving wool and felting materials.
  • Learn how to patch and mend holes and rips using felt.
  • Flat felt and wet felt.
  • Scrub and mat your felted area with soap and warm water.

Completely new to this craft? Not to worry, this is the right workshop for you! Learn the foundational skills needed to get started and to complete a beautiful, modern craft project in two hours. Expect to learn the very basics – from materials, to set up, to starting your project – before moving on to work on your final project.
