Color Trends: Digital Lavender and Highlighter Hues

The news is in and according to trend forecasters at WGSN’s “Digital Lavender” will be the color of the year in 2023. We don’t know how they can predict that far ahead but we are ready to start wearing it now! Keep an eye out for this lovely shade of purple as it starts popping up on your feed.

In other colors news, we are seeing highlighter hues EVERYWHERE, including all over this year’s Oscar awards. From Zendaya’s stunning bright yellow Valentino dress to Colman Domingo in an incredible hot pink, Versace suit, these over-the-top punchy tones are here to stay. We can’t wait to see these colors reflected in our projects, from yarn to polymer clay trends.

Love bright colors? Check out our Ice Dying workshop and keep your eyes peeled for neon colors this summer!

Bandana Clothing

Trend Report.png

Tying right in bright colors that are only getting brighter is the bandana clothing trend! Still going strong from last year and created using a multicolored patchwork of bandanas, we love these statement pieces. In fact, we loved them so much that we are launching our first sewing workshop(!) very soon to help you create your own bandana top.

Prairie Collars

After a year of staying inside in sweatpants, we are seeing the pushback of big, over-the-top styles, the more out there the better! Instead of the demur peter pan color of the past, we are welcoming a resurgence of neckwear in the form of big prairie collars. And the best part? They are detachable! Pair this accessory with any of your favorite outfits (we especially love the up-cycled quilted versions!)

Kitschy Jewelry

We can’t help feeling nostalgic with the wave of beaded jewelry, shrinky dinks, and handmade styles that are coming back in full force everywhere. Not just for kids, we are seeing a resurgence of phone chains, bright beads, flower motifs, and anklets made with kitschy materials.

Here for the beads? Check out our Beaded Mask Chain Workshop!

Chunky Headbands

Amanda Gorman is an inspiration in many ways and we are loving the wave of chunky headband styles she has inspired. From the classic statin to the embroidered and sparkly statement hair accessories aren’t going anywhere.

70’s Disco Style

The 1970s are back in a BIG way – think disco queens and Cher and less flower child and hippy. We can’t wait to start getting dressed up again and we see the glamor and silhouettes of the 70s as a huge touchstone for the new wave of reopening and dressy looks.

Can’t get enough 70’s? Macrame Wall Hanging workshop is the one for you 😉 Keep an eye out for future disco-inspired workshops!

Coordinating Masks

Even though the CDC announced that vaccinated people don’t need to wear masks in many public settings anymore we don’t see face coverings going away anytime soon (we won’t be braving the subway without one!) We especially love matching our masks to our outfits as an extension of coordinated outfit trends.

Mask making coming soon to our workshop calendar so keep your eye out on our brand new workshops and check out our Instagram to learn about our newest announcements. Customize your own mask with Shibori Tie Dye Face Masks!
