Introducing #MyCreativeCorner where we celebrate the behind-the-scenes of crafters, artists, and the spaces they work in. For our first feature, we have Robin of @thehoopnyc with an inspiring look into her incredible embroidery work and workspace.

Robin is an NYC-based artist and JamMaster! If you’ve taken an embroidery workshop with us you might’ve met Robin. After a successful 38-year career in the fashion business, she turned to embroidery work. Robin is the founder of The Hoop and currently studying embroidery at the Royal School of Needlework creating stunning pieces using old master techniques.

What inspires you about your creative corner?

The magic hour when the light hits the frame just right.

Sitting at my window in midtown Manhattan stitching and watching the world swirl around me.

Favorite part of your space?

My slate frame perfectly mounted and resting on my windowsill with my lowery stand (frame to hold embroidery).

What led you to your creative passion?

I used to stitch with my mom and grandma in Mexico City as a child.

I lost her when I was 13 so it keeps her memory with me and honors her

Favorite medium?
Embroidery, currently studying at Royal School of Needlework.
