Do you remember the first thing you made? Maybe it was baking cookies with your grandma or crafting an epic self-portrait out of macaroni in your elementary school art class. Whatever that first project was, chances are it instilled a sense of satisfaction and pride that, for some of us, kick-started a life-long love for crafting.
New generation of crafters
We’ve spent the past few years sharing that love with women and men across New York (and yes, even Westchester!) with CraftJam, and now we’re ready to get the next generation of artists, crafters and makers started with KidJAMS: a unique series of kid-friendly classes and workshops that help children learn new skills, expand creativity, make friends and most of all – have fun!
Well, for starters it’s a great way to express creativity but it goes even further than that: by using tools, children develop fine motor skills; when counting supply pieces, they practice math skills; experimenting with materials is an introduction to science. But even more so, youngsters feel good while making something, they experience a sense of accomplishment and a new found self-confidence. Even better, they have something fun (and handmade!) to show off in the end.
Made by We
For KidJAMS we’ve partnered with Made by We, a bold new community space for creators, entrepreneurs, and business leaders in the Flatiron District of NYC brought to you by WeWork. It’s part community hub, workspace, and retail experience, all with no WeWork membership required. Think of it as a reimagined town hall for today—a place that brings together people, business, and culture.
On premise is also a Bluestone Lane coffee shop. Your kids can craft while you have brunch and drink (a complimentary!) coffee.
We’re excited to be sharing in this new endeavor with a community oriented space like Made by We and are looking forward to more new fun projects, workshops and classes to come!
