Come meet our JamMaster (a.k.a CraftJam teacher) Lindsey. Apart from being a talented jewelry designer and an avid knitter, we love her for her rad sense of style. We are happy to have her join our CraftJam Team!

What’s your name? Pair it with an adjective that has the same first letter.

Lazy Lindsey.

What classes do you teach at CraftJam?

Wire Wrapped Rings and Arm Knitting!

How long have you been crafting?

Since I was a kid. My grandma used to help me sew matching outfits for me and my Barbie.

What do you like about crafting?

As much as I love the process, I really love the finished product. To see a of basic materials turned into something beautiful and wearable (or usable).

What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever made?

To this day, I’m still pretty damn proud of this dress I knit way back in 2012. It took a lot of time and patience, but it was worth it.

I’m also really proud of this dress. I saw a girl in the subway wearing something similar, with the draped panel in the back. I snapped a sneaky pic of it and started digging through my patterns to find a good base. I had to wing it when I added the back panel, but I thought it came out really pretty.

What do you like about CraftJams?

I’ve always loved watching people learn how to make things. There’s the initial panic where they think they’re going to mess something up, but once they figure out how to get their hands moving and to not be afraid – there’s this really cool moment where you can actually see it click, like – “I can do this!” and they get so excited. I love watching that happen at the CraftJam classes.

Best music to listen while crafting?

No music, only Law & Order SVU 🙂

The best advice you ever got?

Perfect is the enemy of good. It’s easy to nit pick a project to death and never finish. Sometimes you just gotta push though and get to the end and take whatever you did wrong as an opportunity to learn for the next time.

If you could CraftJam with anyone, who would it be?

That’s a really tough question! My first thought is Martha Stewart but then that would be really intimidating. Actually, you know what – I’d love to knit with Michelle Obama!

Say hi to Lindsey on Instagram!
