Meet the coolest knitwear designer of the town, Alexi from Two of Wands. It’s definitely our pleasure to have her in our CraftJam team as a teacher!

What’s your name? Pair it with an adjective that has the same first letter.

Artsy Alexi

What classes do you teach at CraftJam?

Arm knitting and hopefully weaving soon 🙂

How long have you been crafting?

My mom is an artist and I’ve been making things for as long as I can remember – I love working with anything – yarn, fabric, paint, metal, clay – you name it!

What do you like about crafting?

There’s nothing better than the feeling of admiring something you made with your own two hands. Not only do you feel empowered and accomplished, but you know how much time and energy went into it so you treasure that item more and take better care of it. I love things that have a meaning or story behind them, and that is so often the case with something that has been handcrafted.

What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever made?

My Sherpa Coat is probably one of my most favorite items that I’ve made.

What do you like about CraftJams?

I love the easy-going atmosphere – there are no judgements and you can be a complete beginner. It’s also a great way to make connections with other makers in your city!

The best advice you ever got?

Don’t get stuck in paralysis by analysis.

If you could CraftJam with anyone, who would it be?

My mom – she is the coolest.

Best music to listen while crafting?

I like listening that makes you want to dance – it’s motivating without being overwhelming. It’s not a new song, but every time “Heartbeats” by The Knife comes on it makes me want to move. Or craft 🙂
